The following is an example of how units and credits are fitted together to make up a postgraduate masters programme:

Analysis of composition
5 items: 4 normal 6-credit units; 1 'year-long' unit (total 30 credits)
 
4 items: 2 normal, 1 year-long and 1 "double" unit (total 30 credits)
 
1 dissertation unit (30 credits)

Students must complete 30 credits in order to gain a standard postgraduate certificate, 60 credits for a postgraduate diploma and 90 credits for a postgraduate masters degree.

N.B. Students studying on part-time/modular programmes will usually have more flexibility in their study patterns and are advised to contact their Director of Studies for further information.
