By the end of the unit, you will be able to demonstrate:
- that you can produce a clear, accurate and idiomatic translation of a text or texts of your choice and/or that you have an advanced understanding of your chosen research topic
- that you can engage with and apply current, relevant theoretical frameworks
- that you can present your work appropriately with excellent attention to detail

| Synopsis: | Choose between either an extended translation and commentary or a thesis-type dissertation on a topic area linked closely to your programme of study.
You'll explore text types and/or research areas of your choice and work with a supervisor.
Throughout the unit, you'll be able to demonstrate and develop your ability to work independently as you plan and conduct your dissertation or project.

| Content: | You will start thinking about your dissertation/project at the end of Semester 1, when you will be asked whether you would like to complete an extended translation with commentary or a discursive dissertation. Translations will be from one of your foreign languages but can include different text types. Ā鶹“«Ć½ topics must relate directly to your programme of study.
You will be assigned a supervisor early in Semester 2 and you will need to confirm your choice of source text(s) or research topic before the summer vacation.
You will receive feedback on a draft submission over the summer vacation period and you will submit your final draft in September.
