The programme codes assigned to programmes which are starting or continuing in the 2001/02 academic year are made up of ten alphanumeric characters (e.g., UFTMECH001) in the following manner:


1st character differentiates UG or PG or CE (non-credit bearing) = Undergraduate
P = Postgraduate
C = Continuing Education (non-credit bearing)
2nd character differentiates Mode of Attendance (i.e. the normal way the programme as a whole is undertaken/delivered)
F = Full-time
= Part-time
K = Thick sandwich
N = Thin sandwich
D = Distance learning
3rd character differentiates predominantly Taught or Â鶹´«Ã½ T = Taught
R = Â鶹´«Ã½
4th-7th characters differentiate owning Department/School, or Faculty if a cross-departmental programme, or UNIV if a cross-Faculty programme Departmental code (e.g. PSYC for Psychology), or

Faculty code (e.g. HASS for Humanities & Social Sciences)

UNIV for a cross-Faculty programme such as Natural Sciences

8th-10th characters Three-digit numeric starting at 001
